Ethereum Co-Founder Vitalik Buterin Awarded With Honorary PhD By Swiss University
One of the oldest Swiss University, the University of Basel, known for producing great minds like philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche and psychiatrist Carl Jung awarded Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum Blockchain with an with an honorary doctorate. The Faculty of Business and Economics grants Buterin an honorary degree for his “outstanding achievements” in the fields of cryptocurrencies, smart contracts, and the design of institutions. The university announces it through a tweet:
With educational institutions finally starting to embrace decentralized technology, they have subsequently started recognizing achievements of researchers and developers of the ecosystem. Just a few weeks ago, Joseph Liu from Monash University was recognised for his contributions to privacy-oriented currency Monero and was awarded Australian Computer Society’s researcher of the year.
To further their support universities across the world are collaborating to initiate blockchain oriented programmes to aid the future generations of developers. In the past month itself, Ethereum Foundation announced that they are backing a Blockchain Course in the University of Tokyo, the Tezos Foundation partnered with Kingsland University to build a Blockchain Course and Aeternity cryptocurrency launched a Free Blockchain Education Course.
